I have some exciting news!! I was one of the four winners of October’s Photo Recipe Competition!!
So what do the winners get? A bottle of wine that is selected to go with Novermber’s Photo Recipe Competition Recipe and all the key ingredients to make November’s recipe! I have a few great ideas for November’s photo and how neat would it be to win twice in a row??
Here are the other photos that won, they are each lovely in their own way and even though I won also, I am jealous of their photos!
This week, we went back to the Medium Veg box – it is just right for us, although getting all the veggies in the Large box was pretty exciting – we are still trying to figure out ways to use up those veggies! Who thought that would be so difficult for veggie lovers such as ourselves?
Here’s what came in the infamous box this week:
- white mushrooms
- roma tomatoes
- onion squash (named for the shape)
- cherry tomatoes
- sweet potatoes
This week, we made a big batch of Japanese Curry and had friends over two nights in a row to share it with us – the freshness of the veg that we got made the curry better with each bite and we received rave reviews! (It included, carrots, onion, cabbage, potato and peas)
Mei single handedly ate all the tomatoes and cucumber – she is a nut for ‘em! The sweet potatoes have been reserved with the other ones we received last week for a butternut squash and sweet potato soup that I plan to get to making this week.
That leaves the endives. They are seriously the fifth wheel. We don’t really care for them so we arent really sure what is going to come of them just yet…. guess we will have to see later this week if we can find some place for them in our meal rotation!
Food Fact of the Day: In the U.S., a wheat farmer can expect to receive about six cents of each dollar spent on a loaf of bread—approximately the cost of the wrapping.
That’s it for this week!
What’s in YOUR box??
